Ravi Shankar Prasad calls Rahul Gandhi a ‘migratory Hindu’
PATNA: BJP nominee for Patna Sahib parliamentary seat Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday said Congress decision to field party president Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad in Kerala was akin to a “helpless captain running away from his sinking ship”. He also called Rahul a “migratory and chunavi Hindu”.
“The captain has run away after noticing the sinking ship. Something has gone awfully wrong with his ship,” Prasad said on Rahul, who is the sitting MP from Amethi in UP.
Stating that the present Gandhi family (read Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka) have deemed the two UP parliamentary constituencies of Rae Bareilly and Amethi as their family “pocket borough”, the decision to field the Congress chief from Wayanad indicated that they have finally realized the “reality”.
“They created a jaal (web) of bhram (illusion) and asatya (lie) around the two constituencies, but when they faced the reality, their all foundations and roots have been shaken,” Prasad said.
The Union minister said senior Congress leader A K Antony and its chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala crossed all sense of reason when they claimed the decision to field Rahul from Kerala was to uphold and protect the culture and tradition of the peninsular India.
“It is an ugly and crude joke on the proud commitment of South India to their culture and tradition,” he said, adding even Kerala CM K R Vijayan had criticized the reason given out by Congress.
In the same vein, Prasad also said the real reason behind Wayanad as the choice seat for Rahul was that the constituency’s population comprised 50.6% minority communities. “It shows his (Rahul’s) helplessness and insecurity. That a minority dominated constituency has been selected for him — it has exposed him. Rahul is migratory Hindu, a ‘chunawi Hindu.’ All this stands exposed,” Prasad added.
Prasad also sought Rahul’s stand on the Sabrimala temple issue in Kerala. He referred to the frequent temple visits made by Congress chief, pointing out that he has also started wearing ‘janeu’ and shown his ‘gotra’. However, Prasad ducked the question if Rahul should be called a Hindu, saying that Hinduism is a liberal religion.
Prasad also referred to the “treatment” meted out to former PM P V Narasimha Rao by Congress as his body after death was not taken to the party headquarters. Prasad also reminded Rahul that his ‘daadi’ (former PM Indira Gandhi) did not do for K Kamraj and C Rajagopalachari what they deserved.
“Rahul should do homework,” Prasad said, adding that Congress talk about “unity and integrity of the country” was a sham as his party had also “mistreated” Devraj Urs and K Siddaramaiah from Karnataka.
He came hard on the Grand Alliance, saying “it has neither policies nor intent and nor even one leader”, as most of the leaders of regional parties did not recognize Rahul as their candidate for PM, and have been projecting themselves for the post.
