"Go and get his (Chandra's) nomination papers filed on April 24. I also support him," Tej told Chandra's supporters. Election in Jehanabad is to be held in the last phase on May 19.

Political differences in the Lalu family had come to the fore on Thursday when Tej resigned as patron of Chhatra RJD, demanding Sheohar and Jehanabad seats for his supporters Angesh Singh and Chandra Prakash, respectively. Though Tej's younger brother Tejashwi did not announce any candidate from Sheohar on Friday, he named former MP and state minister Surendra Yadav as RJD nominee from Jehanabad.

Sources said Tej was trying to find space for himself in the party since his younger brother Tejashwi has been calling the shots in RJD since Lalu's conviction. Tej is also allegedly angry over RJD's decision to field his estranged father-in-law.
