GUNTUR: Taking strong objection to chief secretary LV Subramanyam reviewing the counting arrangements, TDP senior leader Mannava Subbarao has demanded that Election Commission should immediately remove him from the charge. He said that LV Subramanyam is not entitled to continue as chief secretary as he is an accused in several scandals along with YSRCP chief supremo Jaganmohan Reddy.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mannava said that the chief secretary is trying to take the administration into his control to influence the returning officers ahead of the counting of votes.
“The CS has no role to review the polling or counting arrangements as it is entirely the domain of the chief electoral Officer (CEO). It is shocking that CS had convened video conference and reviewed the counting arrangements with the district collectors by violating the model code of conduct,” said Mannava.
He said that the CS should follow the guidelines as an advisor to the government without interfering in the election related work. He questioned why YSRCP leaders were not questioning the reviews being conducted by CS while raising objections at CM reviews. He demanded that
EC should immediately probe the CS’s over-enthusiasm in overseeing the counting arrangements and take disciplinary action. He said that LV Subramnayam should be sacked from CS post without any delay.
Taking light of BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana’s comments, Mannava said that Kanna would not even get deposits in the elections. He said that BJP candidates across the state would lose deposits due to the scandals involved by Kanna Lakshminarayana. TDP city president Degala Prabhakar and district unit general secretary Lal Vazeer were also present.
