Five candidates file nomination papers across Uttarakhand on the first day of nomination
DEHRADUN: On the first day of nomination, a total of five candidates filed their nomination papers in Uttarakhand. While two nominations were made for different seats of Dehradun district, one nomination each was made at Haridwar, Pauri and Chamoli.
Uttarakhand Kranti Dal candidate, Subhash Chandra Purohit filed his nomination papers for the Doiwala seat and Independent candidate Anil Kumar Gupta filed his set of papers for Dharampur seat. At Haridwar, Mahipal Singh an Independent candidate from Laskar constituency filed his set of nomination papers, the two others to do so were BJP candidate
In the coming days starting from Friday, the time between 11 am- 3 pm is going to be upbeat for all closely following the election situation, as during this time the nomination papers would be filed by those interested to contest the elections.
District election officer, Ravinath Raman told TOI, "On the first day of filing of nominations, only two candidates filed the papers in Dehradun. Almost 76 nomination forms have been taken though. Things went smoothly, we hope even in the coming days, there should be no hassle."
The last date of making the nominations is January 27 and thereafter the last day for withdrawal of candidature is February 1, in between which, there will be scrutiny of the nominations.
