From Tehri, Congress has named

Narendra Chandra Ramola

as the party candidate. Ramola has remained an active member of the party for last many years and after Kishore Upadhyay was shifted to Tehri he was made the party nominee. He is said to have a strong vote base among the Thakurs of the region.

Later in the evening, the party announced the names of candidates for the remaining five seats. Aadesh Chauhan, who had contested on a BJP ticket from Jaspur seat of Udham Singh Nagar and received 21,604 votes, have been given the Congress ticket on the same seat, where he will face Shailendra Mohan Singhal. In the political turmoil, Singhal had turned rebel and joined BJP.

Meanwhile, Prabhu Lal Bahguna has been given ticket from Raipur. Bahuguna has been pitted against Umesh Sharma Kau, who was among the Congress MLAs to turn rebel.

Bal Kishan has been named Congress nominee from Bageshwar, where he would face BJP’s Chandan Ram Das. Rajendra Barakot has been given opportunity from Someshwar seat and Rajendra Singh from Gadarpur constituency.
