Tamil Nadu assembly election: When can Covid-19 patients cast their votes?

votes

even after 6pm, Tamil Nadu chief electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo said on Tuesday evening. They will be given priority. After that,

infected/suspected people would be allowed to cast their votes.

“Covid-19 infected persons can come in their own PPE kits. If they don’t have kits, the booths will give them. Similarly, the booth officials also will wear PPE kits,” he said.

The state had reported 21,958 active Covid-19 cases till Monday.

Voter turnout
Sahoo said the state recorded 53.55% voter turnout till 3pm.

“Namakkal district recorded 59.73% voter turnout, the highest in the state, followed by Karur (58.62%) and Kallakurichi (58.14%). Tirunelveli district is the least recorded district with 41.58% turnout,” Sahoo said.

Chennai recorded 44.72% till 3pm, while neighbours Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur 44.72%, 54.29% and 54.29% respectively.

The commission replaced 174 ballot units, 134 control units and 559 VVPATs following technical snags.
