INDORE: Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh said that Madhya Pradesh has debt of ‘Rs 23,000 crore’ when his tenure ended, but it rose to ‘Rs 4 lakh crore’ due to corrupt practices of successive BJP government.
“These people (BJP) in last many years have looted hundreds of thousands of public money. Madhya Pradesh had only Rs 23,000 crore debt, when I left. Now, there is a debt of Rs 4 lakh crore on the state. What work they did? There are no details available,” said Singh while addressing a gathering in Agar constituency.
“If Congress forms government, everything would be investigated. Everyone who did the scam would face investigation and would be taught a lesson. There is a scam in everything — scam in recruitment, scam in control shop, scam in children nutritional food, scam in mid-day meal. And the administration is completely dipped in corruption,” Singh said.
In the scheduled caste reserve Agar constituency of Agar-Malwa, Vipin Wankhede is fighting the election on Congress ticket against BJP’s Madhu Gehlot.
Showing confidence that Congress would form a government in the state as people want a change, Singh said, “Today, people of Madhya Pradesh want a change. They want to defeat BJP. People were frightened but as model code of conduct came into effect their anger came out in the open. I never saw such a huge rally a day after Diwali. It is a sign that the Congress is forming a government in the state.”
“Democracy means change. Democracy will be strengthened with change. The Panchayati Raj would be implemented again giving power to local bodies and its office bearers, if Congress forms government,” he said.
