Bhim Army leaders held in MP on way to Gurjar rally
BHOPAL: Prominent Bhim Army leaders, including Chandrashekhar Azad, were detained by Madhya Pradesh police at a checkpoint near Chambal River when they were en route to Gwalior to support a Gurjar agitation following the September 25 violence.
Police were on high alert after the Gurjar and OBC Mahasabha announced they would hold a 'Jail Bharo Andolan' on October 12 to protest the police action that followed after the violence of September 25 when stones were hurled at cops at a 'Gurjar Mahakumbh'. A massive force of 4,000 police personnel was strategically stationed throughout Gwalior.
Bhim Army leaders Azad, Ravindra Bhati and Atul Pradhan were detained, along with several supporters.
Police also intercepted three men who were trying to enter the city by camouflaging their motorcycle's number plate with cow dung. What gave them away was a 'Jai Bhim' tattoo on the arm of one of the trio.
