Kerala assembly polls: 500, including CPM secretary booked for rally against former minister G Sudhakaran
KOTTAYAM:Punnapra police filed a case against 500 identifiable individuals, including CPM area secretary, for causing a traffic obstruction during a demonstration against former minister G Sudhakaran. The case names CPM Ambalapuzha area secretary C Shamji as the first accused. Charges have been filed under various sections for unlawful assembly and causing traffic disruptions for vehicles and the public. The traffic disruption occurred during a massive rally CPM organised against Sudhakaran, who announced his independent candidacy in Ambalapuzha, after leaving the party. The demonstration took place last Friday. The rally began at the residence of former chief minister VS Achuthanandan in Paravoor and proceeded to Paravoor Junction, then along national highway, before concluding near govt higher secondary school after turning from Public Library Junction. The prolonged traffic blockage on NH led to police filing the case.
