KOCHI: NDA constituent Twenty20 announced eight more candidates on Tuesday, taking the total number of candidates to 12. The party had announced four candidates on Monday. Party president Sabu M Jacob released the names of actor Anjali Nair (Tripunithura), social media influencer Promy Kuriakose (Angamaly), actor Lakshmi Priya (Perumbavoor), actor Veena Nair (Ettumanoor), Adv Charlie Paul (Chalakudy), Dr Varghese George (Kodungalloor), Jibi Abraham (Piravom) and Thomas K Samuel (Ranni). Jacob said that these are people who have made their own mark in the fields of cinema and culture. Last time, Twenty20 contested alone in eight constituencies. As an NDA constituent, the party is contesting in 20 seats this time. Dr Varghese George, who has been associated with strengthening Twenty20’s organizational base, is the son-in-law of former chief minister Oommen Chandy. Adv Charlie Paul, a member of the Twenty20 state executive board, is once again a candidate from Chalakudy. He had contested in the Lok Sabha elections. He is also a member of the Syro-Malabar Church PRO committee and the Catholic Council of India. Jibi Abraham is the coordinator of Kunnathunad constituency and has played a role in spearheading the party’s victory in Thiruvaniyoor panchayat in local body polls. Thomas K Samuel is a social and cultural activist well known in Ranni.
