In the petition filed through advocate T Asaf Ali, the opposition leader has also sought registration of criminal cases against those responsible for the fake or multiple votes, including those who aided and abetted in breach of official duty.

It is alleged in the petition that the election commission is lethargic in initiating action to rectify the electoral roll for the assembly election despite filing representations.

It has also not responded to the representations even though a serious issue has been raised, the petition read while pointing out that 4,34,042 fake or multiple votes have been detected across 131 assembly constituencies.

These fake or multiple voters have been issued with identity cards by the election commission, it is alleged.

From the survey conducted using a software, it was revealed that a single voter has enrolled in one constituency and then in multiple constituencies under different names, the petition said.

If a careful scrutiny of the final electoral roll is made, the number of fake entries would be more, the petitioner has contended.
