BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a fervent appeal to voters on Tuesday to support BJP in Wednesday’s assembly elections and help “fulfil his mission” to make Karnataka the “number 1” state in the country.
“The dream of every citizen of Karnataka is my dream,” Modi said on Twitter. “Your resolve is my resolve. When we come together and set our minds to a goal, no force in the world can stop us.
I seek your blessings in the mission of making Karnataka the Number 1 state in the country. ”
Modi, who addressed 19 public meetings and held six roadshows in the state in the run-up to elections, added:“‘Ee Baariya Nirdhara, Bahumatada BJP Sarkara’ (This time a majority for BJP government) — this call of the people of Karnataka is still echoing in my ears. ” He said people have always showered him with love and affection.
He said despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Karnataka received over Rs 99,000 crore annually in foreign investment. “It was just around Rs 30,000 crore under the previous government,” he said.

All-India Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also put out a similar appeal, saying Congress is “strongly committed to fulfilling” its five preelection guarantees and would do so in the first cabinet meeting itself if elected.
