Karnataka assembly elections 2023: Revanth Reddy invokes 'son of soil' sentiment appealing Kannadigas to vote Mallikarjun Kharge-led Congress to victory

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday tried to invoke the "son of the soil" sentiment appealing to the people of Karnataka to vote Congress to victory in the May 10 elections and ensure that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge is held in high esteem.
Revanth along with Mallikarjun Kharge, addressed four public meetings in the Hindi language in Bidar, Bhalki, Basavakalyan and Humnabad where there is a sizable Hindi-speaking population.
Revanth recalled how prime minister Narendra Modi had appealed to the Gujaratis that he was the son of the soil (Gujarat) who became prime minister and appealed to them to vote for BJP in Gujarat assembly elections.
"Gujaratis did it. Now it is time for the people of Karnataka, especially Kannadigas to ensure that Kharge-led Congress wins at least 150 of the total 224 seats in Karnataka. Kharge is the son of the soil (Karnataka) and that the grand old party has given him the highest post in the Congress. The Kannadigas should uphold his success by inflicting a humiliating defeat on the BJP," he said.
The BJP has already brought a bad name to Karnataka by gaining the notorious name of "40 per cent commission sarkar" and will become "50 per cent commission sarkar" if it is voted to power again.
Mallikarjun Kharge is an upright leader elected nine times to the assembly and two times to the parliament. The BJP had conspired to defeat him by appointing Rajnath Singh as the in charge. Even the premier investigative agencies like ED and CBI were misused to defeat Kharge once. Now the time has come to take revenge, Revanth said.
If the Congress is voted to power the Congress government under the leadership of Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and the state leaders will develop Karnataka on all fronts and ensure progress and prosperity of all sections of the society.
Don't trust Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Many parts of Karnataka were once part of the erstwhile Hyderabad state. There is a strong connection between Telangana and Karnataka people. Kharge is the "son of your soil." So ensure that he walks with his head held high with a massive victory of the party in the May 10 election, he said.
