At a press conference, Kejriwal said despite its “dirty tricks”, BJP could not defeat AAP’s narrative of politics of work. He alleged that BJP had turned all institutions of the country into political tools. “AAP is working to develop a 21st-century country where schools, hospitals, industries, employment, roads, transportation, science and technology and research are of excellent quality. This will take the country forward. But by their Hindu-Muslim rants, BJP will take the country backwards by 200 years,” he added.

The absence of BJP’s chief minister face dominated the political war between AAP and BJP till the last day of campaigning with Kejriwal saying that no one in BJP was worthy of becoming the chief minister. Union home minister Amit Shah had earlier given the clarification that all citizens of the city were BJP’s CM face, while party

functionaries

said that all workers were chief ministerial candidates.

“I had challenged BJP to declare its CM candidate and come for an open debate. The people of Delhi are scared that their vote might end in someone like Sambit Patra being the chief minister. By not declaring their CM face, BJP has made it evident that they have no one worthy of the post,” Kejriwal said.

The chief minister said he was ready for a debate with the BJP CM candidate and also with Shah on any issue related to the development of the nation, including Shaheen Bagh protests. “Unfortunately, Amit Shah has declined the invitation,” Kejriwal added.

Kejriwal appeared like a lone soldier leading AAP’s charge against BJP, which had mounted an unprecedented election campaign by involving several CMs, MPs and Union ministers led by Shah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two election rallies. Many AAP functionaries were confined to their constituencies because they are contesting the elections.

The AAP national convener said his party was seeking votes on the basis of works done by his government. “For the first time, AAP is seeking votes based on work done by it in the last five years. Other parties have no counterpoint to it. I want to appeal to people to strengthen us by their votes and elect us in all the 70 constituencies so that we can work with greater conviction in our next tenure,” added Kejriwal.

Hitting out at BJP for pointing out that he was reciting Hanuman Chalisa, Kejriwal said, “I request all BJP functionaries to recite Hanuman Chalisa. It will give them a calm and peaceful mind and the tone and tenor of their speech will develop discipline and restraint. BJP members are fake Hindus and only know the language of abuse.”
