NEET UG 2026 re-exam FAQs: NTA explains extra time, complaints process, fees and exam centre allotment
NEET UG 2026 retest FAQs released: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a fresh set of frequently asked questions for candidates appearing in the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. The clarification covers examination timing, city selection, fee refund, centre allotment, grievances and medium of examination.
The re-examination will be conducted from 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM, including time allotted for examination formalities. NTA has also confirmed that candidates will not have to pay any additional fee for appearing in the re-test. The examination follows the earlier cancellation of NEET (UG) 2026 conducted on May 3, 2026.
Address correction and city preference facility opened
According to the FAQ document, candidates have been allowed to update their present address details and revise city preferences by selecting two city choices. NTA stated that the special correction facility has been opened exclusively for the re-examination process.
The agency has also informed candidates that the module for submitting bank account details for refund of examination fees will be made available by May 21, 2026.
Medium of examination cannot be changed
NTA clarified that the examination medium selected during the original application process will remain final. Candidates will not be permitted to change the language option at this stage.
The clarification was issued after several candidates reported receiving a message stating that city selection was unavailable based on the updated address and previously selected examination medium. NTA said the language choice made earlier is fixed under the rules mentioned in the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin.
Fresh centre allotment may differ from earlier venue
The agency stated that examination centres for the re-test will be allotted according to city preferences selected by candidates. As a result, the centre assigned for the re-examination may not be the same as the earlier allotted venue.
NTA also clarified that centres are allotted randomly within selected cities.
Extra time added for verification formalities
Candidates appearing for the re-examination will receive an additional 15 minutes for documentation, verification and related formalities before the test.
Candidates who faced issues during the May 3 examination due to centre-related problems have been asked to submit complaints and supporting documents through the official NTA Helpdesk email provided for NEET (UG) 2026 grievances.
