JEE Advanced 2026 Review: Students call paper moderate; say Physics manageable, Maths lengthy- Watch
Students who appeared for JEE Advanced 2026 on Sunday said the paper was of moderate difficulty overall, with subject-wise variation in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam was conducted by IIT Roorkee in two shifts across centres in the country.
Candidates said Chemistry was comparatively easier, while Physics ranged from easy to moderate. Mathematics, however, was described as lengthy by several students. “It went well. Chemistry was good, Physics was a bit tricky, and Math was also fine, but Math was lengthy. It wasn’t that hard, it went well overall. If I qualify, my focus is on IIT Delhi or Roorkee, but let’s see, IIT Patna will also work,” one student said after the exam.
Another student also described the first paper as balanced but slightly tricky in parts. “Yeah, it was okay, a moderate paper. We’ll have to see about the second one, whether it’s tough or easy. Physics was lenient, not too tough. Math was a little bit on the harder side, but apart from that, nothing else,” the student said.
A third candidate said the paper was standard and manageable within time. “It was a moderate paper. It was our normal, average paper. The three-hour time was sufficient. It was enough...The arrangements were top-notch,” the student said.
JEE Advanced 2026 was held in two papers on Sunday. Paper 1 was conducted from 9 am to 12 noon, while Paper 2 took place from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
As per the marking scheme, candidates get four marks for each correct answer, while one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
JEE Advanced is the exclusive gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering, science, and architecture programs at the IITs, IISc, and other top institutions. It is conducted annually by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This year, it is IIT Roorkee.
