FTII starts short courses at IIMC Delhi

PUNE: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) started three short courses at Delhi on digital cinematography, screen acting, and TV fiction writing, from Thursday, organised at the campus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), and collaborated with them regarding the operation of the courses.


According to a release, 72 participants from 15 states and union territories have registered for the twenty day-long foundation courses, which was inaugurated on Thursday by Bhupendra Kainthola, the FTII director, along with KG Suresh, the director general of IIMC. The age range of the participants range from 18 to 55, and range from a wide range of professions and academic qualifications.

FTII alumni like Siddharth Shasta, Jasmine Kaur Roy, Avinash Roy, along with the cinematographer Wasimbarry Maner are the course directors for each of the short courses. All the three courses are part of the SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television) programme, which aims to equip Indians with skills to pursue a career in films and television studios. Under the programme, the FTII has partnered with multiple organisations, including the Indian Army, to conduct 84 short courses across 23 locations, having recorded a participation on over 3800 students.
