Delhi NCR schools closed amid heavy rains? Here is what the authorities have to say
The Ghaziabad district administration has declared a holiday for all schools and educational institutions on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in view of heavy rainfall and waterlogging across the city. The decision applies to all schools from nursery to Class 12, including government, private, CBSE, ICSE, and madrasa board institutions.
Over the past two days, the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) has been witnessing persistent downpours, which have disrupted normal life, leading to severe traffic jams and flooding in several areas. With the weather conditions showing no signs of improvement, authorities have taken precautionary steps to minimize risks for school-going children.
The directive was issued by District Magistrate Ravindra Mandad and communicated through Basic Shiksha Adhikari O.P. Yadav on Tuesday evening. Authorities cited continuous downpours, severe waterlogging, and traffic disruptions as reasons for the closure, prioritizing the safety of students and staff.
“Considering the prevailing situation and IMD’s alert, it has been decided to keep all educational institutions closed on September 3 to ensure the safety of children,” the order stated.
