Students typically pursue a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree to become dentists and begin independent practice or work at healthcare centers and hospitals. BDS courses are pursued after completing 10+2 in the Science stream with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as mandatory subjects.

Dentistry courses are available at various levels, including diploma programs such as Dental Assistant and Dental Hygiene, as well as certificate programs such as the PG Certificate in Laser Dentistry.

The BDS programme is a five-year accredited undergraduate degree that is one of numerous recognised dentistry degrees accessible in India following the 12th grade. The programme consists of four years of academic education and one year of clinical practise. Students receive hands-on training at health centres or general hospitals during this clinical phase, working alongside experienced healthcare professionals.
