Dekh Bhai Dekh cast: Then and Now

Saas-bahu sagas and reality shows rule the idiot box these days. But there was a time when the entire family used to sit together and enjoy TV shows. Some of them went on to gain cult status and few made it to the list of the most memorable shows of all times. Dekh Bhai Dekh used to be one such show. The Indian audience was in love with three generations of the Diwan family and they could relate to each character in the show. Even after almost two decades, Dekh Bhai Dekh remains the most loved show of all times. We take a look at the cast of Dekh Bhai Dekh, then and now.

Sushma Seth as Sarla Diwan: Sushma Seth as Sarla Diwan is hands down the cutest dadi ever. She has been a part of the industry for over 45 years. But her role as dadi was the most loved character ever. He has actively been involved in the theatre and film industry. Even after all these years, Sushma Seth looks as charming as ever!

Navin Nischol as Balraj Diwan: The eldest son of the Diwans, Balraj was the only sensible member of the family. Once the heartthrob of the Indian film industry, Navin remained quite active in the Hindi film industry. He has acted in a number of films like - Break Ke Baad, Aa Ab Laut Chalein, Khosla Ka Ghosla etc. He won rave reviews for his performance in Khosla Ka Ghosla. Navin died at the age of 65 due to cardiac arrest.

Farida Jala as Suhasini Diwan: Farida Jalal played an over-dramatic and confused housewife in Dekh Bhai Dekh. Just like other characters of the show, she too became the darling of Indian television. After the show, Farida went on to do a number of films and TV shows. She is still a regular face in Hindi movies. She was last seen in Karan Johar's Student of The Year, where she played Sidhharth Malhotra's grandmother.

Shekhar Suman as Sameer Diwan: The boy with dimpled smile, Shekhar Suman played the role of the younger son of the Diwan family. This hilarious, affable boy won many hearts and was touted as the 'next big thing' on the Indian television. Shekhar started his own chat show, Movers and Shakers, which gained popularity. Shekhar also turned director to launch his son, Adhyayan on celluloid.

Bhavna Balsavar as Sunita Diwan: Bhavna is undoubtedly Indian television's most loved character ever. Her vivacious and colourful character in Dekh Bhai Dekh was quite refreshing. Her popularity bagged her many TV shows. She is still quite popular on the small screen. She is also a prominent face of the Marathi film industry.

Vishal Singh as Sanju Diwan: Vishal Singh played Suhasini and Balraj's son in Dekh Bhai Dekh. His good looks and adorable character in the show, won him many fans overnight. He bagged many TV shows after Dekh Bhai Dekh like Professor Pyarelal, Astitva etc. Vishal was last seen in TV show Parvarrish where he played father to a grown-up girl. His role in the show was just the opposite of his mischievous role in Dekh Bhai Dekh.

Natasha Singh as Kirti: Natasha Singh played Kirti, daughter of Balraj and Suhasini on the show. Natasha emerged as a fashion icon in the '90s. She made her Bollywood debut in a low budget film which did not fare well at the box-office. She was also seen in shows like Saat Phere and Milan.

Urvashi Dholakia as Shilpa: Urvashi Dholakia played Sanju's girlfriend in the show. Her portrayal of a confused, vivacious, over-dramatic girlfriend won many hearts. Urvashi became an overnight star after the portrayal of 'Komolika'. She also went onto win Bigg Boss season 6. Urvashi is still quite popular in the television industry.

Amar Upadhyay as Sahil: Amar Upadhyay played Sahil, a close relative of the Diwan family. Amar also emerged as the top notch actor on the small screen after he played 'Mihir' in Ekta Kapoor's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
