More than one lakh voters left in Visakhapatnam in recent years
VISAKHAPATNAM: The door-to-door voters' survey revealed interesting factors including around one lakh voters in "shifted" means migrated from Visakhapatnam. Apart from this, around 27,000 voters have died in recent years.
The city has the highest number of migrated voters in Visakha West where more than 56,000 migrated voters are staying and at least around 5,500 voters in Pendurthi.
The authorities have removed around 42,000 out of 1.02 lakh voters from the "Shifted List", after conducting the survey.
The district authorities say that the Visakha West constituency has many Industries and defense establishments such as HPCL, Dockyard, and Eastern Naval Command, in which transfers of employees are common. The authorities allegedly identified that more than 16,000 voters were not in the city presently. Even after that, the authorities are not removing the names from the voter list, they are now sending notices to the address they mentioned in the voters’ registration.
The Highest voters removed from the shifted list are from Visakha West as it has more than 21,000 voters who left the city. The authorities are now preparing to serve notices to those voters on their postal addresses. They have to send a reply within 15 days. Otherwise, they would be removed from the voter list.
All these names were uploaded online. Particulars of around 45,000 voters are not available and now notices are sent to the postal addresses in one week.
