Another AP student drowns in US lake

Visakhapatnam: Another student from Andhra Pradesh was found dead in the US. Rupak Reddy Padini, 25, from Ichchapuram of Srikakulam district drowned in Lake George, while he was on a vacation with his friends. He was reportedly taking photographs when he drowned.Rupak was studying MS at Harrisburg University of Science Technology, Pennsylvania. He went to the US around eights months ago. The tragic incident took place at Lamb Shanty Bay in Hague when Rupak and his friends visited Lake George for boating, according to the Warren county sheriff’s office.Rupak was with a group of friends in Lamb Shanty Bay in Hague at around 3.20 pm on Tuesday (Aug 27). An eyewitness said the incident happened off the coast of the Silver Bay YMCA in Hauge. The group had a pontoon boat secured to the shore and were out either on the shore, wading or swimming, according to police.Rupak was wearing a life jacket but somehow he slipped out of it and went underwater.The marine patrol officers have rescued all but one member of the group. The witnesses said that they also saw the officers respond to the scene from the sky, with a helicopter that seemed as if it was searching for Rupak. The rescue teams located Rupak, attempted life-saving efforts but he was eventually pronounced dead.

Despite wearing a life jacket, he slipped and went underwater. He is the sixth person from Andhra Pradesh to drown in the USA in recent years.

11 sailors adrift on life boats rescued

The Coast Guard successfully rescued eleven sailors from the MV ITT Puma, which sank 90 nautical miles south of Sagar Island in West Bengal during an early morning operation. Three crew members remain missing as search efforts continue. The distress call, received on Sunday, prompted prompt mobilization of aircraft and ships for the rescue attempt.
