AP gets relief from deep depression

Visakhapatnam: People in various parts of Andhra Pradesh can breathe a sigh of relief as the deep depression over northwest of Bay of Bengal crossed the Odisha coast close to Puri on Monday. However, it is expected that rainfall activity under the influence of remnants of the system will continue in isolated places over Manyam, Srikakulam, ASR, Vizianagaram and Vizag districts on Tuesday. According to the IMD, deep depression formed in the northwest of Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestward at a speed of 13-km per hour and crossed the Odisha coast. It is gradually weakening into a depression and is likely to move west-northwestwards over north Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Chintapalle in ASR district reported the highest rainfall of 13 cm in the state between Sunday (8.30 am) and Monday (8.30 am). Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail over along and off south AP coast on Tuesday. It also forecast that strong surface winds with 30 to 40 kmph speed is likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from Sept 11 to 13.

IIT Madras reduces speed limit to 20kmph on campus

IIT Madras has lowered the campus speed limit from 30kmph to 20kmph after a blackbuck was killed by a car. Violators will face a Rs10,000 fine, while vehicles causing wildlife injuries will incur a Rs1 lakh fine and seizure. Speed cameras and security personnel will enforce these regulations.

Metro on rapid rail tracks to hurtle into Meerut at 120kmph

The NCRTC has introduced the first look of the Meerut Metro, featuring a three-car trainset designed for over 700 passengers. IMD warns of another low pressure in the Bay; thunderstorms expected in Andhra Pradesh till Sep 6

Andhra Pradesh is likely to experience another wet spell as a new low-pressure area forms over the Bay of Bengal around September 5. The IMD predicts thunderstorms and strong winds in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from September 3 to 6. Recent heavy rains have led to severe flooding in Vijayawada and Guntur districts, prompting rescue operations.
