VISAKHAPATNAM: An unidentified person hurled a chemical liquid, suspected to be acid, at three women passengers who were travelling in a bus near Urvasi Junction locality under Kancharapalem police station limits in Vizag city on Friday night. The women experienced eye burns after the attack.

The passengers in the bus said a youngster threw a chemical substance at the women passengers from the roadside. The victims began screaming, prompting the driver of the bus to immediately stop at the spot. However, the perpetrator managed to flee from the scene.

The victims were shifted to a hospital for treatment, and their condition is safe. The incident created panic among the passengers in the bus.

Inspector of Kancharapalem, V Chandrasekhar, said they visited the crime scene, collected some samples, and registered a case.

They sent the samples of the chemical substance to a forensic science laboratory to establish the chemical properties of the substance.
