Govt renames Disha police stations

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh govt has issued an ammendment order renaming Disha police stations as Mahila police stations. The nomenclature of Disha police stations is changed to Mahila police stations, the order stated.It may be recalled that the previous YSRCP govt established Disha police stations across the state to ensure speedy justice to victims in cases of sexual harassment, and POCSO offences. The previous govt also passed AP Disha Bill-2019 ensuring timely completion of investigation and trial in cases of sexual offenses against women and children. Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that safety of women is the top priority of the current govt.

8 railway stations of Amethi district renamed

The railway ministry approved renaming eight railway stations in Amethi district after receiving a proposal from former MP Smriti Irani. Changes include Kasimpur Halt to Jais City and Jais to Guru Gorakhnath Dham. The renaming was delayed due to Lok Sabha election code but is now officially notified.

Preserve CCTV footage: Delhi court orders SHO of Bharat Nagar police station

A Delhi court has instructed a station house officer to respond to an application seeking the preservation of CCTV footage at Bharat Nagar police station. The application alleges police inaction in a fraud case reported by businessman Dharmesh Mehta. The court has scheduled the next hearing for September 5.

UP police station faces bulldozer action in drive to clear road

Authorities in Siddharthanagar, UP, demolished illegal structures, including parts of a police station and a panchayat office, to widen a road. Despite police objections, officials emphasized fairness by also targeting the tehsil office's boundary wall. The drive expanded the road from 6 meters to 13 meters as part of a long-standing effort to clear encroachments.
