Tirupati: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed solidarity with the family members of the three-year-old girl who was brutally raped and killed near AM Puram ST colony at Vadamalpeta mandal in
Tirupati district.
She also extended a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the victim's family and assured that the case will be fast tracked. She said that the govt will seek severe punishment for the accused.
Speaking to reporters later, Vangalapudi Anitha slammed the YSRCP for resorting to acts of political opportunism by trying to politicise crimes against women and minors in the state.
She accused the YSRCP of destabilising the police force and blamed the opposition party for promoting large scale use of ganja and narcotics, leading to an abnormal spike in various crimes in the state in the last five years.
"Since the day the TDP-led NDA govt came to power in the state, we have cracked the whip against ganja smuggling. The cabinet recently accorded approval for constituting narcotics task force to further strengthen the police department in effectively tackling ganja and narcotics menace," the home minister added.
"While the govt is trying its best to bring down crimes against women and children in the state, efforts are also on to set up special courts to fast track pending cases in order to render speedy justice to the families of victims," Vangalapudi Anitha underlined.
