HC reserves order in Jagan attack case

Vijayawada: The high court on Wednesday reserved orders in the bail petition filed by J Srinivas Rao, the accused in the attack on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) contended that the order given by the high court staying proceedings before the trial court is causing the delay in trial and they have filed a vacate stay petition which is being considered by the high court.
Arguing on behalf of the NIA, additional solicitor general, B Narasimha Sharma said the accused was charged under Civil Aviation Act which prescribes life sentence. If the high court considering granting of bail to the accused, necessary conditions should be imposed on him, said additional solicitor general.
Arguing on behalf of the accused, P Srinivas said that the victim is not cooperating with the trial. He said the Supreme Court has said that bail can be granted in the cases where trial has not started for long. Considering the arguments on both sides, the bench comprising Justice U Durga Prasad Rao and Justice M Kiranmayee reserved orders.
