Case against former minister Jogi Ramesh for disturbing public peace
Vijayawada: Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Jogi Ramesh landed in further legal trouble, with police registering a case against him in connection with alleged violations of law and public order disturbance during recent political events. Ibrahimpatnam police booked Ramesh based on a complaint filed by sub-inspector Ravi Varma. The case invokes several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Police Act, and Criminal Law Amendment Act. Police allege that Ramesh obstructed official duties by organising a bike rally, mobilising large crowds, blocking roads, and creating public nuisance, thereby causing inconvenience to common citizens. He was also accused of acting provocatively in sensitive areas and disturbing public peace.
The complaint states that the rally and crowd mobilisation were carried out without prior permission, leading to traffic disruptions and law-and-order concerns. Police said such actions hampered their efforts to maintain order during the visit of YSRCP chief and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The cases come in the backdrop of an alleged attack on Ramesh's residence. Following the incident, Jagan visited his house on Friday to meet him and his family members. The visit drew a large gathering of supporters and members of the public, prompting heightened police deployment. Police officials maintain that the case was registered strictly based on violations of law and not political considerations. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of responsibility and the sequence of events leading to the alleged disturbances.
