Andhra Pradesh: 60-year-old murdered in sleep

VIJAYAWADA

: A 60-year-old man was found murdered in his sleep at an under construction site in Devi Nagar in the city at wee hours of Thursday. The man’s head had been crushed with a large piece of rock.

The deceased was identified as Rama Swamy. According to Ajit Singh Nagar police inspector PV Lakshmi Narayana, the incident took place around 1am, but was reported at around 6am after the accused, Uppala Venkateswara Rao (61), surrendered himself to the cops.

Cops said that Rao committed the crime as he suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair with Rama Swamy. Rama Swamy used to sleep in the cellar of his G + 3 house that was under construction.

“Venkateswara Rao was suspecting his wife’s

, as he claimed that he had spotted Rama Swamy with her in the past. There have been tussles between them in the past over the same issue,” Lakshmi Narayana told TOI.

A case under Section 302 of IPC (murder) has been registered against Venkateswara Rao.
