VARANASI: The Infrastructure Finance Secretariat (IFS), department of economic affairs, Ministry of Finance, in partnership with UP government, conducted the infrastructure outreach workshop in Varanasi on Friday.
This was the third workshop in the series planned with the state governments and union territories with key central infrastructure ministries, for understanding ground issues faced by project sponsoring authorities in large infrastructure projects.
The workshop was inaugurated by the chief secretary of UP, Durga Shanker Mishra. Over 50 senior officials from the governments of UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as well as senior officials from key central infrastructure ministries took part in the workshop.
Peeyush Kumar, JS (Infrastructure), DEA explained the emphasis on capital expenditure and infrastructure development in the country through NIP, NMP, GatiShakti; and the need for establishing the Infrastructure Finance Secretariat.
In his inaugural address, the UP chief secretary appreciated IFS, DEA for organising such workshop in Varanasi which has witnessed integrated infrastructure development considering the historic and heritage value of the city. tnn
