12,000 litres of Sangam water reaches Kashi for distribution
Varanasi: Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's instruction to send the holy water of Triveni Sangam to all 75 districts of the state to ensure that everyone gets the opportunity to take a holy dip, the first tanker of the fire department with 12,000 litres of Sangam water arrived in Varanasi on Sunday.A total of 20,000 litres of the Triveni Sangam water will be distributed among the local residents, who missed the holy bath during Maha Kumbh. Varanasi Chief fire officer Anand Singh Rajput said that discussions with officials of the district administration are underway to determine where and how the sacred water will be distributed among the people. The distribution will commence according to the instructions."Following the govt's directive, the sacred water from the confluence is being sent to all districts of the state. Four fire trucks from the Varanasi Fire Department have been tasked with bringing the holy water for distribution among the public. The Sangam water has been stored at Chetganj Fire Station," he said.During his visit to Prayagraj on Feb 27, the CM announced that the govt will send Sangam water for those, who could not visited Maha Kumbh. The holy water was also sent to jails to provide an opportunity to more than 90,000 prisoners and detainees lodged in the jails across the state. Over 66 crore people from all over the country and abroad participated in the recently-concluded Maha Kumbh on the banks of Triveni for the holy bath.
