Ugandan woman treated for menstrual disorder
Vadodara: A 28-year-old woman from Uganda suffering from severe menstrual bleeding and acute lower abdominal pain was successfully treated at Shree Krishna Hospital in Karamsad town of Anand district.Hospital sources said the woman had been experiencing excessive menstrual bleeding with acute pelvic pain for several months and required daily injections for symptomatic relief. With her condition worsening and limited access to specialized gynaecological care in her home country, she was referred to the hospital by an acquaintance for further treatment.
Senior obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Nitin R Raithatha evaluated the patient and performed minimally-invasive laparoscopic surgery. The procedure was carried out with support from the hospital's anaesthesia team and was completed without complications, doctors said.Dr Raithatha said excessive pelvic pain and abnormal menstrual bleeding are often signs of underlying gynaecological disorders and require timely medical attention. He added that access to specialized emergency gynaecological services remains limited in many developing countries.Hospital officials said the patient showed rapid postoperative recovery and was able to walk the day after her surgery. She was later discharged in stable condition and expressed gratitude to the medical and nursing teams. The hospital regularly treats international patients from countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Oman, Iraq, Fiji, Kenya and Nigeria, officials added.
