Gujarat: Man duped of Rs 8.40 lakh

VADODARA: Two persons have been booked for cheating by the Jawaharnagar police for duping a resident of Bajwa. The accused duo took Rs 8.40 lakh from Mafat Padhiyar in last few years by giving different reasons. The police said that one of the accused Vishal Joshi tried to influence the complainant by claiming to be in contact with some senior CBI officials.


Padhiyar told the police that his daughter Jagruti became victim of cyber fraud in 2014 when some unidentified persons siphoned Rs 4,620 from her bank account. Vishal, who used to work in the same firm where Jagruti worked, told her that he knows some CBI officials and he can help her get her money back. Joshi then developed good relations with Jagruti’s family and then started asking money from them.

According to the complaint, Joshi promised Padhiyar that he can get the latter’s daughter and son admitted to a good college and took Rs 1.12 lakh.
