SSGH doctors remove pin from 11-year-old’s airway
Vadodara: An 11-year-old boy survived a near-fatal condition after doctors at the state-run Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad Hospital (SSGH) removed a pin from his right main bronchus (airway to the right lung). The boy, from Usara village in Dahod, was rushed to the govt hospital after he developed acute breathing difficulty. According to doctors, the incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday.
The boy was first taken to Zydus Hospital, where primary treatment was provided. Further examination revealed that the pin was lodged in the right main bronchus, a potentially life-threatening condition requiring urgent intervention. As removal of the foreign body required a high-risk bronchoscopy procedure, doctors referred the patient to SSG Hospital in Vadodara.ENT specialists at SSG Hospital performed an emergency rigid bronchoscopy on Saturday evening and successfully removed the foreign object."Timely referral and swift surgical intervention helped save the child from a critical situation," said Dr Ranjan Aiyer, medical superintendent at SSG Hospital."After the procedure, the child was extubated and shifted to the ENT recovery room. The patient is stable, breathing normally on room air and is under observation," he said, adding that prompt medical attention in cases of foreign body aspiration is crucial, particularly in children, as delays can be fatal.

All private hospitals are only good for routine surgeries. They lack experience and responsibility. For anything serious or urgent and without good insurance they refer to govt hospitals. If there are chances of making good money with person with high coverage medical insurance, only then will they try to treat the patient. Still only to drag the treatment to make maximum money.Read allPost comment
