Bomb scare: Vadodara collectorate receives threat email; security beefed up
VADODARA: The collectorate in Vadodara received a bomb threat email for the third time on Thursday, prompting authorities to tighten security at the premises.
DCP Manjita Vanjara said, “A bomb threat was received. We are investigating the matter, and security arrangements are being made.”
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, along with the Dog Squad, reached the spot and are checking the premises.
The threat comes a day after several schools in Ahmedabad reported similar emails, prompting authorities to grant students a holiday as a precautionary measure.
Vastrapur police inspector LL Chavda said immediate steps were taken to ensure safety after the threat was reported.
“A few schools have received a bomb threat via email today. Students were given a holiday. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, along with the Dog Squad, is investigating the matter,” he added.
Police confirmed that security teams are thoroughly checking premises, and the probe is ongoing to determine the source and credibility of the threats.
Such incidents have been reported in other parts of India recently. On December 15, at least 11 private schools in Jalandhar, Punjab, received bomb threat emails, prompting evacuations. On December 12, several schools in Amritsar were targeted, though the threats were later found to be hoaxes. Earlier, on December 10, schools in Delhi and one in Gurugram also received similar threats.
Authorities have assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to maintain public safety and order.
