Law student hangs self at rented Udaipur room

Udaipur: A 23-year-old law student of Mohanlal Sukhadia University hanged himself to death by using a muffler his rented room at Shaktinagar in Udaipur on Monday morning, police said.Sushil Raj Mali was in his third year of the law course and hailed from Bhadesar, about 40 km away. He was appearing for his examinations and had an examination to sit for on Monday. He had also been working with a senior lawyer for the last two years, said police.On Sunday evening, Mali worked at the senior lawyer’s office till 5pm and then returned to his residence at Shaktinagar with some files. Early on Monday, around 4am, he messaged his friend Udaybhan about his broken bike and asked him to accompany him to court later in the morning. An hour before that, at 3am, had he wished another friend for his birthday, said police.“When Udaybhan arrived at Mali’s room around 9am and called him, there was no response from inside. When Udaybhan looked through the window, he found Mali hanging and immediately called other friends and police. A police team arrived and took Mali’s body for postmortem,” said a police officer. No suicide note was found, and the death is being investigated, he added.Mali’s father works with the department of post, and his mother works as an anganwadi worker. tnn
