Trichy court complex gets hoax bomb threat

Trichy: Tension prevailed in the Combined court complex in Trichy on Monday after the authorities received an email claiming that bombs had been planted on the premises. A search by bomb squads later confirmed the threat was a hoax.This incident is the latest in a series of similar bomb threats targeting govt offices and public spaces in Trichy over the past year.Upon receiving the email, court officials alerted police. A five-member team with sniffer dogs from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) reached the spot and conducted an extensive search of the entire complex till afternoon. After confirming there were no explosives, the team declared the threat a hoax.Police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the email and identify the perpetrators.
