Two minors, youth held in bike theft case
T’puram: Two minor youths, along with a 19-year-old man from Mananthala, were taken into custody in connection with the theft of two motorcycles from different parts of the city. Police said the trio was part of a group involved in stealing motorcycles and using them for various unlawful activities.
According to officials, the two minors tried to flee while they were being questioned at the station. Alert police officers immediately launched a search and managed to recapture them before they could escape the station premises.
During the investigation, police recovered the two stolen motorcycles allegedly taken by the accused. Further enquiries are under way to determine whether the group was involved in other vehicle thefts reported in the district.
Police said the minors are orphans and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. They are likely to be shifted to a juvenile home following the completion of legal formalities.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old accused remains in police custody. Police said his interrogation is continuing and his arrest will be formally recorded after the questioning is completed.
