State govt employees to go on strike on Jan 22

T'puram: Govt teachers and employees under Joint Council (CPI organization) will go on a strike on Jan 22, next year. Their demands include initiation of 12th pay revision process, full allocation of dearness allowance and pay revision arrears, withdrawal of the freeze on leave surrender, govt takeover of Medisep scheme, and an end to central govt's financial discrimination against Kerala.This was announced by Jayachandran Kallingal, general convener of teachers-employees service action committee. He was speaking at the concluding address of the 36-hour day-and-night protest in front of the Secretariat.False propaganda is being spread that most of state's revenue is for paying salaries and pensions to employees. He stated that a strike notice will be issued and if there is no favourable decision, the strike will be held on Jan 22, he said. tnn
