It has been decided to send a special team to the Malabar region for resolving the crisis that has evolved, said Krishnankutty. Kannur, Sreekandapuram, Kasaragod, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kottarakkara, Kozhikode and Vadakara electrical circles have been severely affected by the damage caused by winds.

Around 1,700 high-tension and 11,000 low-tension posts have been damaged in these places. High-tension power lines snapped at 1,117 places and low-tension lines at 19,571 places.

KSEB staff are working on a war footing to face all adverse conditions to avoid power accidents and restore power connections as soon as possible wherever possible, said the power minister.

For rectifying the transformers and electricity pylons which were damaged by strong winds and rains, employees from section offices in southern Kerala, which suffered less damage, are being sent to the Malabar region, which has been the worst hit this monsoon, he added.
