Pallickal murder: Police conduct evidence collection

Thiruvananthapuram: Pallickal police have conducted an evidence collection with the suspect in the murder that occurred at Pallickal. Mujeeb, a native of Kattuputhussery, was arrested last night in connection with the case of stabbing a 45-year-old man to death.
The murder was committed on the suspicion that the victim, Shibu (Shihabuddin), had an illicit relationship with the suspect's wife. Shihabuddin was a resident of Vellinalloor in Kollam.
The incident occurred around 6pm on Saturday when Mujeeb, a relative, stabbed Shibu. He waited on the way to the house and attacked with a knife.
After the crime, the suspect fled the scene. He was found during a widespread search conducted that night. The suspect was hiding in a bush near a crusher unit about a kilometre away from the crime scene. Police stated that family issues were the motive behind the murder. Mujeeb suspected that Shibu had a close relationship with his wife, which led to the stabbing.
The suspect was brought for evidence collection on Monday and subsequently produced in the Attingal court which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. Mujeeb has been booked under BNS Section 103 (Murder), police said.
