Drug peddler arrested after hitting cop with his car

T'puram: A policeman sustained a fracture in his right hand after a suspected drug peddler rammed his car into the officer's bike while trying to escape from a Dansaf team during a drug raid at Chathannur on Tuesday. Chathannur police later arrested the accused Sanoj (34) of Karamcode, and seized drugs, including MDMA, from his possession. The injured policeman is Dansaf team member Shefeek, who is undergoing treatment at district hospital.The incident occurred on JSM Junction-Karamcode Kinarumukku road around 8pm. According to police, the team received information that Sanoj had arrived in the area in a car with drugs. When the team attempted to intercept the vehicle, Sanoj allegedly tried to flee from the spot.During the chase, Shefeek followed the car on a bike. Police said Sanoj deliberately rammed his car into the officer's bike, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. The accused then attempted to escape from the area but was taken into custody. Further probe is under way.
