Cabinet decides to extend validity of PSC rank lists
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The
Sources said the decision to limit extension to only those lists which haven’t got that privilege earlier has been taken to help PSC to launch a fresh recruitment drive for several posts.
The decision of the cabinet prompted Yuva Morcha to withdraw the protest while Youth Congress decided to continue their agitation till Friday when the meeting of PSC will discuss the recommendation of the cabinet.
The PSC’s discussion will be a mere formality as the Commission also favours the extension of the existing rank lists.
The cabinet also approved names of four new PSC members to fill the existing vacancies in the commission. PWD executive engineer Sureshan C; Prof M R Baiju of College of Engineering, Trivandrum; Jinu Zacharia Oommen, senior fellow, Overseas Indian affairs ministry, New Delhi and Advocate Raghu K Marath of Thrissur are the new PSC members. Jinu is the nominee of CPI while Raghu is the Thrissur district president of NCP. The other two are nominees of CPM.
