Body found on beach identified, probe on
T'puram: Police have identified the body found on the beach near Papanasam Balimandapam in Varkala as Masood (66), a native of Anchal in Kollam.
The body was spotted on Tuesday morning by a passerby, who noticed it lying face down on the shore and alerted the police control room. Police said the deceased was found wearing khaki clothing and undergarments, and prima facie assessment suggested the body was not decomposed.
Relatives had earlier filed a missing complaint at Anchal police station after he left home without informing anyone on Sunday. A case in this regard was registered on Tuesday morning.
Following inquest proceedings at Varkala taluk hospital, the body was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital for postmortem.
Police said the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after receiving the postmortem report.
