36-year-old man held for sexual assault

T'puram: A 36-year-old man was arrested by Valiyathura police for allegedly breaking into a house and sexually assaulting a young woman. The accused was identified as Manikuttan, of Mukkonivilakkam, Vettukad.According to police sources, the incident occurred when the accused unlawfully entered the survivor's residence while she was alone. He is alleged to have attacked the woman before sexually assaulting her. Following the complaint, Valiyathura police registered a case and launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused.Police said evidence was collected from the scene, and the survivor's statement played a crucial role in identifying and apprehending the accused. After completing the initial procedures, the accused was produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody. Further investigation is under way to ascertain additional details, including whether the accused had prior criminal antecedents or if the act was premeditated. Police assured that all necessary legal and medical support are being provided to the survivor. The survivor is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. tnn
