KALYAN: A college student from Nanded, Kapil Kasbe, suffered serious injuries after slipping while trekking on Mauli Fort in Shahapur taluka, Thane District, on Wednesday. Kapil and his friend Siddharth had been staying at the fort for a few days to study the historical objects and sculptures.
The incident occurred when Kapil's foot slipped, causing him to fall into a deep valley while traveling from Kalyan Darwaja to Bhatoba Sulkya on the fort. Siddharth promptly informed the local Shahapur police, who sought the assistance of a trekkers group to conduct a search and rescue operation.
The trekkers group arrived at Mahuli Fort with a stretcher and commenced the search operation, which continued throughout the night. On Thursday morning, Kapil was found seriously injured in the valley. The rescuers utilized a zipline technique to safely bring him down from the fort.
"A trekker said zip lining is done utilising the decline of the slope through a cable which starts from a relatively higher point compared to end."
Kapil was subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment. The attending doctor informed the police that although he had sustained some injuries was out of danger. The prompt action of the trekkers group and the use of the zipline technique played a crucial role in the successful rescue of the injured student.
