THANE: A 19-year-old medical student from a private college in Maharashtra's Raigad district reportedly took his own life, citing harassment and ragging by three roommates in a Karjat hostel.
The police, responding to the father's complaint, have filed charges under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) and relevant IPC sections against the three students. The incident is under investigation, with no arrests made as of now.
The student, Harshal Mahale, hung himself in his hostel room on December 1, and a suicide note found later accused the roommates of mental harassment and torture.
