FYJC admissions: Special round sees a drop of 3 to 14% in cut-off at Thane colleges
THANE: The
While a massive fall of 14 percent was witnessed in the science field of Satish Pradhan Dnyansadhana College, the cut off in BN Bandodkar college of Science dropped barely from 89.20 percent to 87.6 percent.
“From 88.20 percent in the commerce section, the cut off in our college fell to 87.80 percent in the special round that too for the aided section. There were no seats available for the unaided section as those were filled up in the first four lists itself,” said an academician from KG Joshi- Bedekar College of Arts and Commerce.
Although most colleges saw a fall in the cut offs, the science section of Shubham Raje Junior College of Science and Commerce, however, saw a massive increase in the cut off, indicating that the students have perhaps decided to let go off the top colleges in Mumbai and secured a seat in whichever colleges they were allotted.
An official with the centralized admission process said, “The cut offs in some of the city-based colleges in this round increased from anywhere in the range of 4-22 percent that too for the commerce and the science section. This could be because students have taken admission to colleges that earlier they had considered only as a backup option. The competition for the top Mumbai colleges is tough which could have made the students choose the city-based colleges for this round.”
Students have been given time until Tuesday evening to confirm their seats after which the educational department will be launching the first-cum-first-serve round for those FYJC aspirants who had cancelled their admissions in the previous four rounds.
