KALYAN: Union minister for information and broadcasting Anurag Thakur, who was on a three-day visit in the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency to strengthen the BJP, exhorted elected representatives and officials to work together for the development of the city.
On Monday, the BJP leader had commented on the slow speed of work of Smart City managed by the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) prompting Congress and MNS to target the BJP and Shiv Sena, which is in control of the corporation. Thakur has directed officials to clear the backlog of developmental work in two years.
The opposition leaders had alleged that Shiv Sena (which in Thane was controlled by Eknath Shinde) and BJP have been in power in KDMC for many years and Thakur has exposed the people of his own party by telling truth that no satisfactory work is being done under the Smart City Mission run by the Centre.
Thakur, during a presentation by the KDMC on Monday, had said, "The condition of roads in the city is very bad. It gives a poor impression of the city. I am shocked to hear that Kalyan-Dombivli is part of the Smart City Mission."
Congress state general secretary Brijkishore Dutt tweeted, "Anurag ji many promises were made to the people of Kalyan-Dombivli by your party leaders and the one who also were in power in KDMC but the common man has miserably suffered."
