KEVADIA/SURAT: Infrastructure building work is going on at full pace at Kevadia Colony near Statue of Unity (SoU) in Narmada district. Around 2.5 million visitors had been to the site so far to see the world's tallest statue of Sardar Patel since its inauguration on October 31,

Chief minister Vijay Rupani reviewed the progress of the ongoing projects at Kevadia Colony on Friday. He dedicated Ekta Dwar at the entry point of Kevadia Colony to the people and inaugurated Brij Mohan Gupta group's BRG Accommodation and Sardar Sarovar resort facilities. The private group has built 250 budget rooms for the tourists. The chief minister also launched boating and cycling services at the location.

Rupani said, "Around 2.5 million tourists have so far visited the SoU. The number of tourists is expected to double in the coming days. Keeping this in mind, the state government is developing infrastructure for them. Kevadia will soon have accommodation for more than 2,000 people.” Nilesh Dubey, deputy chief executive officer of SoU, said in view of huge rush of visitors during Diwali vacation, shuttle service of 75 buses has been started.

People will also be able to do online booking for vehicle parking at the parking lot near the SoU. Visitors will be able to select the parking slots of their choice, he added.
